Andromeda Chapter 1 Blessing

A blessing that descends with the power of a ray of light to illuminate us.

“Blessing is the foundation stone upon which the entire work of ANDROMEDA is built.”— Manfred Janash’Ohea

An artistic musical creation for ANDROMEDA. Astronomical data sonification and its parameters are documented separately; this recording is not presented as a literal reproduction of the sound of space.

Science and art in harmony

In ANDROMEDA, science and art find a shared path. Astronomical observations bring knowledge and a view into the universe; the artists’ intuition brings sensitivity, emotion and beauty. We bring the best of both together in a fusion that invites us to listen, contemplate and feel our connection with the cosmos.

Our vision is for this encounter to contribute to the well-being of all humanity: a creative step towards a more conscious, shared and human experience. We warmly invite everyone to collaborate and enjoy what ANDROMEDA has to offer.

Hear the light. Imagine together.

ANDROMEDA brings astronomical observations of M31 into dialogue with musical composition, imagery and human experience. Sonification translates measured variables into documented sound parameters; artistic creation opens space for intuition, emotion and the search for meaning.

We distinguish documented sonification from music inspired by astronomy. We describe a composition as a transformation of scientific data only when that relationship is documented. Sound mappings are design decisions, not recordings of physical sounds from M31.

The first work

Blessing, the first musical prototype by Sebastián and Manfred Paier, is now available to hear here. Composition and audiovisual exploration continue in development, in dialogue with the PHAT v2 catalogue and Hubble observations.

The human seal

ANDROMEDA carries the human seal: an encounter between science and art guided by human sensitivity, intuition and creativity. We do not use generative AI to create our musical compositions. Digital tools support analysis, documented sonification and technical production; musical creation and expression belong to human artists.

A music within me

When I received the astronomical data of Andromeda from observations made by the Hubble Space Telescope, something very personal happened: as I looked at them, I heard a music within me.

The data awakened an intuition, an emotion, a desire to create. When I shared that impulse with maestro Sebastián Paier, we found a way to give it musical form. From our work together, something emerged that I feel is profoundly beautiful.

For me, this encounter represents a great step: the possibility of bringing scientific knowledge and human sensitivity closer together, and offering the world an experience that unites us.

That is the human seal of ANDROMEDA. Science opens a window onto the universe; we respond with our creativity, our music and our hearts.
